Slide Design Facts

A PowerPoint presentation can easily become distracting if you use poor color choices and include slides with irrelevant information to your topic. It is critical to understand how to create a PowerPoint presentation, beginning with the slides.

By giving you a variety of design options, PowerPoint presentation program simplifies the process. Slide layouts, themes, background designs, and sizing options are among the options. Widescreen 16:9 PowerPoint slides are perfect for a large presentation screen. The slide size should be changed to Standard, 4:3, to fit a smaller, narrower screen. The slide size dialog box allows you to customize the dimensions of your slides. For your presentation to display properly, it is crucial to format the slide size to match the size of the screen it will be shown on. Choose the 4:3 standard size if you are unsure of the screen size.

  1. Slide designs definitely make creating each slide much easier and faster ^_^

Well said about slide size matching the size of the display area!

When in doubt, use the 4:3 standard size ^_^

  2. I have concluded that all Microsoft products have one motto, when in doubt start from the beginning again, just like in PowerPoint. The lessons in PowerPoint were easy to go through because the understanding from other Microsoft products was already in my mind. Being meticulous with PowerPoint will be very helpful in any presentation. Knowing where your presentation will be displayed plays a key factor when choosing the correct size options to view.

  4. I like using slide themes because I feel it keeps everything cohesive. And it helps non-creative people like me so I don't have just a plain, boring slide background. Hahaha

  5. Designing is everything to me. For my Kim Kardashian PowerPoint presentation, I tried to make it look as minimalistic and sophisticated as possible by using nude shades similar to her aesthetic.

  7. Well said, one of the things I want to do is have my hand in is marketing. I don't know why but the aspect of getting into making commercials or advertisements that attracts revenue always fascinated me. I one day want to be able to move away from predesigned templates and into being the person that made a template that attracted the eyes of someone like Rui, or Tiffany. It would just make me happy knowing that someone out there in collage is using my preset for their presentations. Fun fact you can sell your PowerPoint Templates on a commission base with a good rate being roughly 65% per sale. Meaning that if you sold your template on a website that pushes it out for 15$ you would be making 9.75$ per sale.

  8. I had no idea of the 4:3 format until I did my first presentation in another class and then was told about it in IS-101. My images were squished because I run two monitors at home so the resolution is ultra wide.

  9. Being the creative person I am, PowerPoint allowed me to use my creativity for my presentations. The design tools came in very handy when I couldn't get the layout I wanted, all the features, themes, colors and slide master, made everything come together in a creative, professional way that I didn't imagine I could do at first. I love PowerPoint!
